Dr. Takawira was born and raised in Zimbabwe, where he completed medical school at the University of Zimbabwe. After emigrating to the United States he completed two residencies, the first in Internal Medicine at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Philadelphia and the second in Anesthesiology at Texas Tech University. He joined Pain Management Specialists of Atlanta after completing a fellowship in Interventional Pain Medicine at the University of Rochester in update New York. Dr. Takawira is double board certified in Internal Medicine and Anestehesiology.
In addition, he has published on spinal cord stimulator complications in the British Journal of Anesthesiology as well as presented on cancer pain at the American Society of Anesthesiology annual conference. Dr. Takawira’s clinical interests include spinal cord stimulation, complex regional pain syndromes, neuropathic pain as well as all forms of chronic intractable pain. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his young family.
