Dr. Gouveia was very upbeat, straightforward, optimistic, joyful and helped me create action steps to better my overall health. I didn’t feel that she wanted to complete expensive unnecessary tests and I also felt that although I’m overcoming obesity, she believed we could address it, not have my life be defined by it. I can’t wait until I see her again for my next checkup!

She proceeded to complete her medical education at St. George’s University School of Medicine, and then she completed her residency in internal medicine at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. During her residency, she received several awards:

From the time my mom and I stepped into the office, our experience from the front desk to the exit was excellent. The nurse who worked with my mom was professional, kind and patient. She took to the time to explain the procedures and answer mom's questions. Dr. Gouveia is awesome. She delivered very sensitive information to my mom in a way that was respectful and maintained an open line of communication. We are very pleased with Dr. Gouveia as mom's new primary care physician.

Dr. Gouvenia has an excellent bedside manner. She always gives the patient undivided attention and makes sure you understand exactly what she is talking about. She apologies if there is ever any delay and this particular day there was none. She even called the next day to check up on me and see how I was doing. It is hard to find Doctors that care as much as she does.
