Dr. Obi spent a great deal of time with me. He asked me tons of questions and actually heard what I had to say. It is good to be heard! He is was very thorough and knowledgeable. He explained everything step by step. Needless to say I am very pleased with the way I was treated. I felt like a human being and not just a source of income. Highly recommended!

Dr. Obi Nwasokwa is a cardiologist with offices in Hollis, New York. After getting a B.S. in Molecular biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University, he obtained PhD and MD degrees from Johns Hopkins. He did his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine. He joined full time at Harris Chasanoff Heart Institute of Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Nwasokwa was Assistant Professor of Medicine first at SUNY Stony Brook Health Sciences Center (1988 – 1989) then at Albert Einstein College of Medicine Bronx, New York (1989 – 1996). He published numerous clinical and basic science papers in prestigious peer reviewed medical journals including American Journal of Physiology. His clinical papers on coronary artery bypass surgery in the Annals of Internal Medicine were widely referenced classics. Dr. Nwasokwa entered the private practice of cardiology in 1997. His practice encompasses a comprehensive range of cardiology services including cardiac catheterization; treadmill only and nuclear stress tests; echocardiography; Holter monitoring and outpatient telemetry; pacemaker and ICD follow-up; vascular studies including carotid Doppler and lower extremity venous and arterial Doppler studies; and general consultative cardiology. Cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac surgery services are readily available through Dr. Nwasokwa’s primary hospital, Long Island Jewish Medical Center which is part of the North Shore – Long Island Jewish health care system. Dr. Nwasokwa does charitable work in sub-Saharan Africa. He is Chairman, Board of Directors of African Education Fund and Chairman, Board of Trustees of Government Secondary School Afikpo Alumni Association, his high school alumni association (www.gssaaa.org).
