Dr. Omar Awar earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston and completed his residency training at David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California in Los Angeles. He then completed his General Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in the Texas Medical Center where he served as both chief general cardiology fellow and chief interventional fellow.
Board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology, Dr. Awar has practiced medicine in Houston since 2013. His clinical interests include coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease, cardiac arrhythmias, and venous disease of the lower extremities.
Dr. Awar is dedicated to enhancing the cardiovascular health of each patient. He strives to combine the latest in medical advancements with an individualized approach in order to achieve the best possible outcome. He provides comprehensive cardiac care, ranging from aggressive screening and prevention of cardiovascular disease to invasive therapies that include angioplasty and stenting of coronary artery disease and peripheral arterial disease. He specializes in the radial approach (through the wrist) when performing heart catheterizations to enhance patient comfort and safety. Dr. Awar also provides state-of-the art, minimally-invasive treatment for the treatment of varicose veins and venous insufficiency.

Dr. Awar is a brilliant & fantastic cardiologist. It is clear he is well trained. Despite his youth he has experience in cardiology that allows him to determine the medical condition immediately. He is intensely attentive. He communicates clearly and formulates plans with alternatives. One always walks away confident that the medical condition will be solved or taken care of. He is one of the finest cardiologists I have encountered.

It started with a hick up if the wrong file at my initial interview, but they addressed the issue quickly and took a lot of notes.
I really liked the doctor as he listened, discussed the situation and gave me options. I would highly recommend him based on my initial visit. Im coming back for some follow up tests, I feel confident that during the discussion this was necessary and needed to ensure my health.

Dr Awar is very nice, answered all my questions and concerns. Pleasant manners. MA very nice. The receptionist wasn't nice. After waiting 45 mins told me my appt was later than scheduled. Like 15 mins made a difference from waiting the current 45 mins to over 1 hr. But have to say it was worth it.
