I require an initial brief phone consultation prior to initial appointments. After you request an available appointment time on ZocDoc, I will contact you to arrange a phone call, and will then direct you fill out a questionnaire through the Luminello electronic medical record system that I use.
About Me:
I completed my adult psychiatry training at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine residency training program, which included clinical experiences within private, public, university, state, and federal systems of care (working at NYU Langone Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, NYU Counseling and Wellness Services, the Manhattan VA Medical Center, Manhattan Psychiatric Center and Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center). I served as chief resident in education after which I stayed at NYU to complete a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison psychiatry at the interface between medical illness and psychiatry.
My approach to treatment is collaborative and eclectic. I believe that the practice of psychiatry requires humility and flexibility because each individual finds meaning in life and relief from suffering through different means. Though I work primarily through a psychodynamic approach, I also incorporate a transtheoretical approach to patient care including cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based, and neuropsychiatric, and psychopharmacologic frameworks.
Treatment includes a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation followed by a discussion of psychotherapy and, if appropriate, medication treatment options. I welcome patients of all backgrounds.
