A native of Northern Virginia, Dr. Lotfi completed his undergraduate degree at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania majoring in both Biology and Economics. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Subsequently, he completed his five-year training in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago. Dr Lotfi was an orthopedic surgery chief resident at Cook County Hospital and Christ Hospital Medical centers, both busy level I trauma facilities. Dr. Lotfi obtained his sub-specialty fellowship training, in Spinal Surgery, at Northwestern University Hospital Medical Center in Chicago.
Dr. Lotfi has authored numerous papers on Orthopedic Surgery, as well as Spinal Surgery. He has also participated in instructional seminars demonstrating advanced surgical techniques. Dr Lotfi is the recipient of numerous scientific awards in fields of basic science and biology as well as clinical orthopedics.

The office is very clean and professional, and everyone that works there was very pleasant. The assistant that saw me before Dr. Lotfi came in was great, and he seemed genuine about helping me. Dr. Lotfi was brief and seemed somewhat irritated at me, but overall helped me with what I wanted. I waited 45 minutes in the office before I was seen by a nurse.

Lofti came recommended by my primary care doc. I swore this place off so I went around the beltway looking for a good doc. I eventually relented and gave this place a second chance after a crappy experience with Press. I really like this guy. He is personable, considerate, engaging. Great bedside manner. He wants you to understand what's going on with your body. He's never on time. Ever. If you have a 3 PM appointment, expect him at 4 PM. I just bring me some magazines or work to do, as I wait. How I see it? I'd rather wait for a guy who takes his time than get the guy who's running out and leaves me feeling like I'm just throwing money out of the window for nothing. Lofti gives me that old world doctor charm. Like the doctor on Little House and the Prairie who visits their patients at home. He's awesome. Why the minus? His staff sucks. They charged my insurance $3,000 for a back brace that retailed for $75 on Amazon. Nurses at Potomac Hospital said they're infamous for this. One of his Medical Assistants, Sabrina, is LAZY (all caps). His PA is nice and knowledgeable even, but he's very much a PA. Inexperienced. Once I made an appointment with Lofti and got the PA without any pre-warning. Their entire team is subpar. You have to manage them from behind, and stay on top of what you need. If Lofti left and branched off on his own with a new support cast, I would be here for it. If he decided to no longer take insurance, I would pay him out of pocket whatever he charged. The others? They're not worth a $20 co-pay. The only reason why this update has 2 stars and not 1 is because of Dr. Lofti.

Just had my follow up appointment with Dr Lotfi after having an MRI done. Good news I seem to be healing so no further visits need unless symptoms get worse. However wait time for both visits was more than 45 minutes.
