Hello Everyone,
I graduated Montclair State University and completed my internship there as well graduating in 2000. My first position right out of the internship was as the only staff dietitian at a small acute care hospital in Kearny, West Hudson Hospital. After a couple of years there I accepted a position to move on to long term care where I would be able to now gain experience in this area. During that time I was offered a position to return back to acute care but for a much larger setting; Hackensack University Medical Center. Here I worked as an in-patient dietitian and an educator, I taught heart healthy meal planning to the cardiac patients.
During my time at HUMC, I, along with ten other RD’s opened up a private practice; North Jersey Nutrition Consultants. We all started our own LLC and we all worked together for approximately ten years. During that time I learned how to start, advertise, & run a small business. This was a tremendous learning and growing experience that I’m grateful for and I was able to consult full time from this experience.
After a few years of being out of acute care I did miss it and was happy to return a few years ago. After working in different areas of clinical nutrition I can now say my heart is in acute care and I am truly happy to be back.
