More about Dr. Pickens Patterson, MD
Pickens A. Patterson, III, M.D. is Double Board Certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management Medicine. He has eight years of experience in practicing Interventional Pain Management in South Carolina and Georgia.
Prior to joining ISPM, Dr. Patterson formed Pain Management of the South, a successful interventional pain practice in College Park, GA. Previously, Dr. Patterson was in private practice in Stockbridge, GA, and also successfully launched and managed a satellite office in Griffin, GA.
In addition to his experience and skills in all interventional pain techniques including epidural injections, facet blocks, and sympathetic blocks, Dr. Patterson has a special interest in spinal cord stimulation for neuropathic pain and failed back surgery. Dr. Patterson stresses the importance of overall function, and frequently incorporates physical therapy and biofeedback/psychology into his patients’ individualized treatment plans. Dr. Patterson takes pride in providing comprehensive and compassionate care to every patient he treats.
Dr. Patterson attended the United States Naval Academy and received a Bachelors degree in biology from Hampton University. Afterwards, he graduated from the Medical College of Georgia, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 1998. He later completed his internship and residency in anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University where he was awarded “Best Bedside Manner” by the director of his fellowship program.
Dr. Patterson grew up in the College Park/Southwest Atlanta area, not far from the Camp Creek Medical Center where his office is located. His wife, Cristale, is also a native of College Park. Together, they have two young sons. Dr. Patterson intends to provide the most up to date treatments for chronic pain to the Atlanta metropolitan community for many years to come.
