Pratiba S. Kumar MD is a graduate of University of Dundee, a medical school in Dundee, Scotland, U.K. She emigrated to the British Isles with her family of origin from India where she was born. Almost all of her formative years were spent living and studying in Britain.
Dr. Kumar emigrated once again to California, where she eventually settled. Today, Dr Pratiba Kumar is a proud mother of grown children and has devoted much of her time to raising her family along with fulfilling many of her career goals and needs.
Dr. Kumar completed her 3 year residency requirement at San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp, CA - located just outside of Stockton, specializing in both Family Practice and Internal Medicine. Dr. Kumar took a special interest in Occupational Medicine, Women's Health care and Urgent Care focusing on minor emergencies.
Dr. Kumar has had a full spectrum of life experiences having lived in three different continents and exposure to diverse cultures. She has developed a deep understanding of the human condition - rich or poor - and has a unique perspective on the world as a woman and as a professional.
Given this background, there is a certain blend of gentleness, competence and a desire to make a difference in people's lives while maintaining a balance in various aspects of life. These qualities being the essence of who she is, Dr. Kumar wants others to benefit from her insight and experience. This desire leads her to be a natural educator and a guide, if that is something patients need or desire. In the quest for good health for her patients, she believes in creating a healing and supportive atmosphere. This means patients are encouraged to be active participants in their on healthcare and goals.

Very impressed with the office and the care I received.

It was awful, while I did not have to wait in the waiting room I did have to wait in the office for a hour before being seen. She seemed like she was in a rush and seemed like I was wasting her time. During my second appointment with her she had a patient with their door open and DURING my appointment, as she was sitting in front of me, was telling the nurse what to do with him. I didn't need to know what was going on with his heart and I'm pretty sure that violates privacy.
Not only that, before on my way out I told her that I wanted to discuss something about my stomach and she walked me out of the office and talked about it right in front of the person who makes appointments in the waiting room.
Basically, she made me wait for hours in the office and she violated privacy-which is very unprofessional.
