Dr. Pulin Patel is a Diplomate of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Internal Medicine. In addition, he is also a Fellow of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor and earned his doctorate of medicine degree from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine in San Francisco, California in 2001.
He subsequently went on to complete an Internship at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Detroit Medical Center. His clinical training in Pediatric and Adult Allergy and Immunology was completed in 2007 at Children’s Hospital of Michigan – Detroit Medical Center.
During his training, Dr. Patel participated in several projects, lead presentations and presented research at several national conferences that focused on public health topics such as high-risk asthmatic children and the relationship of obesity on childhood asthma.
Dr. Patel’s areas of special expertise include the diagnosis and treatment of infants, children, and adults with asthma, sensitivity to allergens (hay fever), chronic sinusitis, urticaria (hives) and angioedema (swelling), eczema (skin allergies), food allergies, drug allergies, insect sting allergies, anaphylaxis, immune system deficiencies and the delivery of allergen immunotherapy (allergy shots).
His general philosophy in medicine is tailoring treatments to minimize the impact of both disease and therapy on the lifestyles of his patients and their families so they can lead normal lives. He excels in taking time with his patients to educate them about their disease and informing them of all therapeutic options.
