As Medical Director of St Joseph Hospital’s Weight Management program for over twenty years, Dr. Bonilla was a pioneer in the relatively new medical specialty of Bariatrics or Weight Management. As a practicing Internist, he has seen firsthand the ravages of obesity while treating chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. He has devoted much of his career to treating and preventing obesity. In his private practice and at the hospital, he has helped thousands of men and women to lose weight and keep it off.
Formerly Chief of Internal Medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital, as well as Secretary Treasurer of St. Joseph’s Hospital, he was honored to be listed in "Guide to Top Doctors" and "Best Doctors in Florida." He is listed in U.S. News and World Report as one of the top 1450 Internists in the United States.
