Dr. Gattu is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at the State University of New York, University Health Science Center at Brooklyn, New York and his fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Detroit.
Prior to his pediatric residency, Dr. Gattu received additional post-graduate training in pediatrics in India and the United Kingdom. He was awarded a diploma in pediatrics from a prestigious Royal College of Physicians of UK. He earned his medical degree from Gandhi Medical College, India. He was an attending in pediatrics and practiced General Pediatrics for a few years before he advanced his career to pediatric emergency medicine in 2003. He was a faculty in the department of pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. He later moved to Maryland and continued as a faculty at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
During his tenure, Dr. Gattu was nominated for several awards for teaching, clinical excellence, and patient care. Throughout his career, he had trained several medical student and residents across different disciplines. He introduced the simulation-based training and developed mock code scenarios, skill stations, for pediatric residents at the University of Maryland School of Medicine
Dr. Gattu had authored articles on bronchiolitis, asthma, pediatric poisoning, and fever in newborn, telemedicine, and diagnosis of sexual abuse in children. This work has been disseminated through a variety of publications, most notably Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA), Hospital Pediatrics, Journal of Pediatrics, Pediatric Clinics of North America, Annals of Emergency Medicine.
