Dr. Raymond Chai is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. A graduate of Johns Hopkins and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, he completed his otolaryngology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Chai then completed a fellowship in Advanced Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also served as a clinical instructor in the Head and Neck Surgery division. He is an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at the Icahn School of Medicine of Mount Sinai. He also serves as the Director of Head and Neck Robotic Surgery at Mount Sinai Beth Israel.
Dr. Chai’s clinical expertise focuses on malignant and benign tumors of the head and neck, including the care of patients with cancers of the oral cavity, oropharynx, hypopharynx, larynx, paranasal sinuses, salivary glands, thyroid/parathyroid glands, and cutaneous malignancies of the head and neck. Having trained at the University of Pennsylvania with Dr. Gregory Weinstein and Dr. Bert O’Malley, Jr., the inventors of Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS), Dr. Chai brings a broad experience with TORS as a minimally invasive approach to cancers of the head and neck. Dr. Chai has a special interest in the treatment of HPV-positive oropharyngeal cancer. He is also trained in all aspects of general ear, nose, and throat disorders.
Dr. Chai is devoted to ensuring the longevity of his patients’ health and developing long-lasting relationships with them. He takes his time to understand symptoms and give correct diagnosis to ensure the continued health of all his patients.

Dr. Chai is smart, friendly, he listens, he explains things clearly and his work as an ENT surgeon rivals any plastic surgeon. I needed my thyroid removed along with many cancerous nodules in my neck. This was a big surgery but thanks to his skill I now have a very small scar on my neck which I'm sure will disappear completely in time. He was just tremendous throughout the entire process. At the hospital early in the morning, checking in throughout the day and into the evening. I seriously wondered if he ever went home he was so attentive. This was my follow up appointment and I am happy to give Dr. Chai the very highest recommendation possible.

Dr.Chai, was an excellent ENT physician. I had a severe ear infection, my ear was swollen and i couldn't hear out the same ear. Dr.Chai drained my ear as much as possible, then prescribed some fantastic drops and by the weekend (my appointment was Tuesday) my ear was good as new! I would definitely recommend him to others...
