Dr Ricardo Espaillat is a great physician. I have been seeing him for a few months now. He listened openly during our first appointment and treated the root of my problem.

I would absolutely never go back to this doctor. Within 15 minutes he was ready to put me on some serious drugs. Beware!

2-3hr wait.
Advised that I should seek alternative methods of feeding my child so I could take medication.

This doctor spent 30 minutes with me and immediately prescribed me 2 medications without even diagnosing me. The questions were pretty generic and it is evident that this is a misuse of doctoral power.

The doctor is very nice and competent. However you must give yourself half a day to sit in his waiting room. It is quite typical, as I learned from other in the waiting room, that the wait time is typically 2.5-4 hours. I waited for 3.5. While he is a good doctor, I simply don't have the ability to take a vacation day at work to go see him for a 8 minute consultation.

The wait time was 2 hours. This is totally unacceptable. My feeling about this doctor is he is money hungry and overbooking. Suggestion to the doctor would be to be on time. Respect your patients time. How do you expect them to respect you when you don’t respect them? I would never recommend this Doctor. If you value your time stay away from this Dr. From the other patients I talked to in his office he wanted to see them back every week or 2. Orders numerous blood tests etc. I’m sure he’s a huge insurance biller. Must of been that hypocritical oath they made him take in med school.

I left before seeing the Dr. He walked in late. Then took his first client. The walls are thin and it was annoying to hear mumbles of the conversation. Disappointed for being my first time considering too see a psychologist.

Great Dr! Worth the wait.

Wait times for a brief five-minute follow up were a minimum of 30-minutes. My most recent scheduled appointment was for 10am on a Monday morning (the first appointment of the day). At 10:40am, I left the office as Dr. Espaillat still had not arrived. On another occasion, raining heavily outside, he sat in his car waiting for the rain to stop as his office was full of patients waiting for their appointments - another one hour wait for a simple follow-up. Needless to say, I will not be continuing visits with Dr. Espaillat.

Dr. Espaillat took over an hour to see me, although he was a good doctor once I actually was able to have a conversation with him.
I'm giving him one star because of experiences since. First experience:
- I'm 11 minutes late for an appointment due to traffic. He leaves the office early that day because he's tired of waiting.
- My RESCHEDULED appointment is canceled THE DAY OF after I've rearranged my day and work schedule to make the appointment.
I'm only returning because I need a prescription filled and then I'll be finding another psychiatrist. I have to believe not everyone is as unreliable as Dr. Espaillat.

Never on time, has reschedule some appointment, and cancelled others. Even one time, he didnt show up. In terms of competence, maybe he's ok but it makes it difficult to rate positively his service when his patient time doesnt seems to be important or taken into consideration. I'm seriously thinking about seeking another doctor.

Doctor is nice, but he didnt see me until after an hour of waiting because he came in late for all of his appointments and had a backlog of 5 other patients

Very scary visit. There was a formerly disgruntled employee who was able to barge in the waiting room and start screaming about money she was owed. Waited over two and a half hours to the point that I had to cancel my other appointment I had taken a day off to have. Was seen for 30 minutes, asked very leading questions about suicide and depression and given 3 prescriptions. I only went because I need some basic stress management tools to deal with my job and my husbands work stress.

Dr. Espaillat was pleasant & professional. As a new patient, he made me feel comfortable while reviewing my medical history and the personal questions asked that aide in diagnosis and treatment. He seemed genuine and showed concern for me. I am glad I found a doctor that makes me feel they care about their patients and long term health.

Wait times can be long, as mentioned by many other reviewers. However, Dr. Espaillat is very warm and friendly. His medical background, affiliations, and credentials should speak for themselves as well. You will not find a more qualified practioner.

He is professional and has a way of asking questions that is non-judgmental. On the particular day that I came, it happened to be very busy with a long wait, but the waiting room has enough chairs to accommodate everyone. The receptionist was also very professional and helpful. Besides the wait, I had a positive experience, and I would recommend Dr. Espaillat.

Nice doctor. Seems thorough and caring. Too early to say much more. On the negative side, I didn't like that I had to wait over 40 minutes to be seen.

I have a problem waiting over an hour and half for my appointment time. That is what appointments are for. I even called before my appointment to make sure they were running on schedule and the receptionist told me yes we are on time you can come on now. The doctor was not even there yet and the waiting room was full. I had to wait an hour an half. I'm sorry but I am a busy person and don't have time for doctors that don't respect others time. I also feel that all he wanted to do was push meds on my son.

I found him to be very approachable and easy to communicate with. He presented a nice approach of treatment with an easy understanding.

First of all, he was 2 hours late. All of his morning patients were there before he was. I was able to leave and get breakfast, and when I returned he was still not there. And after several appointments, he refused to work with me on my medication. He wanted to prescribe me what he wanted to prescribe me regardless of what I said. It gave me the impression that he's paid by this one drug company to hawk their product, that he has a stock of samples for. I did not feel like I had any say in my own treatment, it was up to this guy and the drug company fueling his pocket. It's ridiculous.

The doctor and staff were very friendly and professional. The wait time was longer then expected, but it could be because I was a new patient. I would recommend this doctor to my friends and family.

He seems like a great guy! I can't wait two hrs to see a doctor for 15mins visit. Also I felt a little uncomfortable in the office most psychiatrist have a couch or a comfy chair to sit in. Also the office was really small for being a private practice also weird hours for appointments and working in miami also.
