Dr. Richard Bowdle is a Board Certified psychiatrist with over 35 years’ experience in holistic patient care, teaching, and organizational leadership.
Dr. Bowdle earned his medical degree at the University of Florida, Gainesville in 1976, then completing training in internal medicine at St. Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco and a Psychiatric Residency at UCSF's Langley Porter Institute in 1980. He has maintained a private practice and is Assistant Clinical Professor VCF at the UC Davis School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Bowdle has also headed behavioral care facilities throughout California, including serving as Medical Director at Sutter Center for Psychiatry and Chief of Department of Psychiatry at Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento.

Great location and wonderful modern office. The appointment booking system is good and fully automated. Office staff helpfull and courteous. Doctor is very experienced and a great listener. Doctor gave me space to explain myself. Would always recommend to friends and family.

My mother who is 82 has been seeing Dr. Bowdle for the last 2 years and I must say her daily functioning has improved a lot ever since she started seeing him. Dr. Bowdle understands the issues faced by his patients and prescribes medications accordingly. He is also good with therapy when required. He has his own unique style which I thought would be ineffective in the beginning, but he proved me wrong. I am ever so thankful to him for helping my mother and helping her lead a better life. Thank you Dr. Bowdle!

Dr Bowdle was both knowledgeable and professional. She was very thorough, taking the time to listen to my history and my concerns. While his expertise and discipline in treatment is admirable, what’s equally satisfying is that he has been approachable, empathetic, mindful, clever, and non-judgmental.I will strongly recommend Dr. Bowdle for mental health support.
