Richard is a practicing cardiology physician assistant with extensive experience in the field. He began his career as a pediatric cardiologist at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital before transitioning to orthopedic surgery and later returning to his true passion, cardiology. Prior to his career in medicine, Richard practiced law and worked with the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals, a division of the US Department of Health and Human Services. His transition from law to medicine was, as he describes, a “calling,” and he has never looked back. Richard earned his physician assistant degree from Miami Dade College and his Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from Saint Francis University. Born in Chicago and raised in South Florida, Richard has deep roots in our community. Both of his parents were from Cuba, and he is proud of his heritage and the opportunities he has had to serve diverse patient populations. We are confident that Richard’s expertise and compassionate approach to care will make a positive impact on your experience at AssociatesMD.
