Originally from Ukraine, Dr. Gelbert immigrated to the United States at age 14. She later completed her medical training at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. The doctor was fine but I wouldn’t go back again. I had to go to get a physical for my job as well as a TB test. The doctor was very accommodating about filling out forms. However the office staff was quite rude and cold. There was also a huge communication issue. I had to make two separate appointments in the same week and the appointment times on their record were different from what I had originally scheduled. Thankfully it was the summer and I wasn’t busy so it wasn’t too much of an inconvenience for me.
Secondly, when they called to confirm my appointments, they left voicemails in Russian. I am not Russian and nor do I speak Russian. This office is obviously not set up to handle patients who do not speak Russian. Furthermore, when I was called back, the nurse who did my intake and took my vitals spoke almost no English and I had to resort to using Google translate to answer her questions.
The waiting room was also small and crowded and their bathroom was one stall and had no soap or toilet paper which is unacceptable especially for a doctor’s office because they know full well which sanitary precautions they should take not to spread germs and illness.

While my wait was longer than I'd hoped, the care I received was excellent. I had an extremely high temperature and an infection; they normalized my temp and gave me antibiotics. The office called me the next day to check on me. For my follow-up appointment for bloodwork a day later, I was quickly received. The doctor and nurses were all very helpful and concerned. I was glad to have found this office last minute, when I had a sudden unexpected ailment that needed urgent care.

The wait time wasn't so bad, it was however when the nurse saw to me that I realized how bad this place was. I asked to get a metabolism test done, because one of my parents has a slow metabolism, and it is affected by genetics as well my own actions and my environment. The nurse looked at me and said "you're really that fat?" I don't see myself so, but why is it her business? The doctor was no better, in fact she was very condescending the whole time after I revealed some private information to her. I had a pain somewhere in my hip and I really couldn't nail what it was, and she sarcastically told me she could refer me to have an X Ray done after she felt that the pain was on my bone. So the bedside experience was truly awful. Would not recommend.

The only bad thing about my visit was the wait time (about 1.5 to 2 hours every time). Other than that, Dr. Gelbert answered all my questions, and had an excellent bedside manner.

Dr GElbert was extremely kind and really cared. She listened to what I had to say, never cut me off once. She offered help finding other doctors as well as help with all aspects of my life which I am going through right now. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor. So happy I found her and so close to home.

I've been doctor shopping for the past few months trying to find a genuinely educated doctor to be my primary care physician, after reading one of these reviews I was a little puzzled to schedule an appt but dr Gelbert met and exceeded all my expectations. She took the time to asses all my needs and I am very grateful to be able to see a doctor now worry free. Highly recommended.

It was the most disappointing, unprofessional and rude experience of my life. Here I am, extremely ill to be treated by a medical diva who speaks disrespectfully to her patients as if we owe her something. After reading reviews about zocdoc I realize this practice is quite common for the doctors who are on your site. Never again will I use zocdoc. Never!

I LOVE Dr. Gelbert! The wait time was not that great... over an hour the first time and around 45 minutes my second appointment. I did not feel like the nurse understood what I was saying, but Dr. Gelbert herself was great and makes her worth going to, despite the other annoyances. Very caring and takes time to listen to all your concerns. Would definitely recommend her.

Liked the doctor a lot. However, I wish I had advocated for myself better. If you are trying to get pregnant, you will get no medication. I'm regretting agreeing to that for some issues I'm dealing with. My tolerance for risk is higher than hers is, I guess. I was less happy that she really pushed for me to get off my depression medication when I've already discussed it with my gyno and my psychiatrist, and both agree that the risk is much lower than the risk of going off the meds. (And the risk isn't very high for this medication, actually.) I told her both doctors had agreed and that we have a plan in place, and she still recommended going off them several times after.
Hated the wait and the difficulty of speaking with the office staff. Everyone spoke to me in Russian first. Waited about 45 minutes after signing in before they asked why I was there. Waited between 45min-hour before I was seen by the nurse/assistant. Then I was sent back to the waiting room for another 20 minutes before seeing the doctor in a different room. All that said, I'll go back happily. With a good book.
