Dr. Arayan is a co-founder of Chicago Sports and Spine, Pain Management Physicians. He uses a multi-disciplinary approach to treat injury and pain to maximize a patient’s potential and quality of life. Dr. Arayan will direct your treatment and collaborate with other health care professionals to design a program for you.
Dr. Arayan attended the University of Illinois at Champaign and obtained his bachelors degree in biology. He then went on to Ross University School of Medicine for his medical degree. He completed his training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital/University of Chicago program. He subsequently went on to complete a sports medicine and electromyography (EMG) fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr. Arayan is Board Certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. After completing his fellowship training at the University of Illinois, he has continued on at the university as an assistant professor in sports medicine rehabilitation. He is also Board Certified in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Arayan’s areas of interest include sports related injuries involving such areas as the spine, knees, shoulders, and hips. He also manages acute and chronic pain conditions from various sources. Along with the above he treats patients with nerve related pain, pain radiating into the arms or legs, work injuries, and post surgical pain. He also performs specialized nerve and muscle testing through electromyography (EMG).

I have been going to Chicago Sport & Spine for almost a year.
They have a great support staff. The girls at the desk and front office are always on the ball,
Dr. Arayan is a great dr and very caring. I have seen other dr's that are just there to write scripts.
I expressed psychological distress due to my pain. Dr. Arayan was genuinely concerned. Not just covering his rear in case something happens.
I have "failed back syndrome" and that has no real treatment. I have been researching other doctors around the country and Dr. Arayan has supported my trying to find other treatments that might help with my pain. He's not like other doctors who only want you to use treatments they can make money off of.
They are a bit out of the way for me, but well worth going to see them.

This is the 1st doctor I have seen in Chicago who could actually tell me my history and operations. He really read my chart. I was amazed.
He took over an hour to talk to me about my history, what I am looking for and what I am willing to do.
My only real issue is he is out of the way for me.

Overall, Dr. Arayan is very knowledgeable, but I think he is too busy at times to provide the appropriate recommendations to patients. It was frustrating on 2nd and 3rd appointments to have to discuss my symptoms and issues as if it were the first time. I experienced significicant knee pain and actually had my knee go out on me; Dr. Arayan sent me to get an MRI (no X-ray) and subsequently recommended physical therapy. After my first session, my knee responded poorly, at which point the therapist recommended I receive a second opinion. I have considerable knee (bone) damage and physical therapy was far from the best recommendation for me.

Dr. Arayan has been extremely kind and so, so helpful through the entire process. His offices are brand new, and state-of-the-art. I never felt rushed or neglected during my visits.
I had been struggling with a wrist injury for years. Multiple doctors shrugged it off and told me they weren't sure what it was. When I went to Dr. Arayan, he took his time and laid out all of the possibilities and options. In the end he made the correct diagnosis. Even during and after my surgery, he's been *extremely* accessible and open. I've called and emailed multiple times, and always gotten a quick response. Each time he walked me through all of the options and patiently answered any questions I have.
I really cannot recommend Dr. Arayan enough. I've personally referred two friends to him, and they've both had equally great experiences.

Absolutely wonderful doctor, went through all steps possible to help my issue with my hands/forearm from working on the computer over 11 hours/day. He helped with everything from even printing out exercises for me to prescription and also recommendations for therapy. Basically, more than I asked for! I was disappointed by the wait, but thought Dr. Arayan was professional, efficient and knowledgeable during my visit. I also liked that, after we get my x-rays back, he has a stepped plan outlined to get me back in running shape.
