Robert Keyser, MD treats Colorado Ophthalmology Associates patients at both our Denver and Lakewood offices. Dr. Keyser currently lives in Denver with his wife Yvette. He has three grown children, Rob, Scott, and Jennifer and two grandchildren, Ben and Emma.
Dr. Keyser graduated from high school in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He attended undergraduate studies at Kalamazoo College, graduating in 1964. He completed medical school at the University of Michigan in 1968. Following medical school, he did a rotating internship at the University of Washington, Harborview Hospital.
After two-and-a-half years of service in the U.S. Navy as a flight surgeon, he moved to Colorado where he completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Dr. Keyser was Heed fellow and trained in ophthalmic pathology from 1975 to 1976 at the CU Health Sciences Center. Dr. Keyser joined Colorado Ophthalmology Associates the following year. He excels in refractive surgery, cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, and retinal laser surgery. He has been board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology since 1976 and is a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, where he teaches residents on a weekly basis.
Dr. Keyser is a member and past president of the Colorado Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, a fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the Denver Medical Society.
Dr. Keyser has been performing cataract refractive eye surgery since 1974 and started performing PRK and LASIK eye surgery in 1996, when the procedures were first approved in the United States. He was one of the founding physicians of the Clear Vision Laser Centers in the Denver metropolitan area.

Office staff friendly but had to wait 10-15 minutes at a couple points: after checking in, after seeing nurse. Doctor genial enough but seemed curt: didn't ask if he could dilate eyes, which I think is a big no no. Didn't perform any advanced tests--puffer machine, retina mapping--even though I was a new patient, because he said I was too young to have issues. While I appreciate the optimism, isn't the point of testing to catch issues ahead of time?

I liked my visit. Getting into the back to start the exam took 45 minutes which was frustrating given that I did the paperwork online to speed things up. Once things got rolling, it was good. I wish the doctor would have explained what he was checking as the appt was going along especially since I was a new patient. He did a different version of an eye pressure test and it was different. I wish he would have told me so that I knew what was going on. It worked out fine and he was very nice. I just learned quickly that I have to ask questions because he wasn't volunteering information. Everyone was accommodating though as soon as they learned I had to leave by a certain time for another appt. Really appreciated that!

The visit with Dr Keyser was extremely professional and helpful. He took care of me very well and provided everything that I needed to get my proper glasses. I felt just a little misled on the fact that the lens provider doesnt in fact take my type of insurance, but then again i never asked i just assumed. Overall the visit was great and would recommend Dr Keyser to others as well.

I rarely if ever take the time to offer feedback but was compelled in this instance due to the outstanding experience that I had. I really enjoyed my visit with Dr. Keyser. I was 15 minutes early and still didn't get taken back till almost 10 after. I waited at least 5 minutes for the doctor to even come in and he wasn't terribly friendly when he finally did. He dilated my eyes which I am usually offered to opt out of and wasn't planning to do today. I didn't feel I could say no and now I am unable to see the board for my math test. He didn't seem to care how I felt about being surprised by the dilation

Dr. Keyser is as knowledgeable as he is cordial. But I felt like he was a little quick with his patients. It seemed as if he only had five minutes to spend with me before having to hurry off to another exam room. I suppose the fact that his office is so busy is a sign that he is good at what he does. I just would have appreciated a little more time with him, that's all.

Dr. Keyser is an excellent Optometrist. He asks appropriate questions and listens to your responses. He is candid and direct. Dr. Keyser completed my lasik process exactly as described and has followed up with all post procedure checkups. My vision continues to be superb.
