Dr. Lowenstein is a Life Fellow of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, and is a Life Member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry. He graduated from Columbia College in New York City, and the University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School. He was trained in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He received training in psychoanalysis at the New York Medical College. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Craig Academy, the Watson Institute, and the Autism Center of Pittsburgh.
