Dr. Acosta is the original founder of the Gulfcoast Institute of OBGYN and has been serving families in the Tampa region for over 23 years. He originally hails from Cuba and lived in New York state where he attended college and medical school. He completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Flushing Hopsital Medical Center. Soon after with his wife and young family he established himself in St. Petersburg, Florida. Dr. Acosta has a special interest in primary care of women, obstetrics, contraception, and minimally invasive in-office and robotic assisted surgery. He is an avid golfer and a big Notre Dame football fan.

I have only been with Dr. Acosta one year, and I have always heard about this doctor, but because I already had a doctor that I liked I never had the opportunity to be one of his patients. Now my doctor has retired, Dr. Acosta was my first choice. I am very pleased with him so far, he takes his time explaining everything that he needs to explain to you, and then to ensure that you understand he ask if he has answered all of your questions. This makes me feel that I also have input in my health. I like him! !

He was very nice but I would have appreciated if he had taken the time to wright down the diagnosed problem he saw. He could have also made a referral to me. Other then that he was very nice to me and even asked if I needed a prescription for a mammogram

Dr. Acosta is amazing. I was very unhappy with the amount of time that I waited. I got a text stating my appointment was at 10am. I arrived at 945am to be told my appointment wasn't unil 1020am. I sat for almost 10 minutes before someone called me up to complete paperwork and give id and such. I was then handed an 8 page document to update because you were changing your system. I have been a paitent of Dr. Acosta's for 25 years and was not very happy that I had to do all new paperwork when you have my records.
