She earned a Bachelor of Science degree and subsequently a Master’s in Nutrition at the University of Florida before completing medical school at St. Louis University. Her professional training was at Baystate Medical Center and Tufts University in Massachusetts. While stationed at MacDill Air Force Base, she was Flight Commander for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
