Dr. Gomez asked the right questions and inquired about the right topics to come to her decision of medication and care right for me. I appreciate her soft, gentle approach during her assessment and look forward to getting in the right track mentally under her care and recommendations.

Dr. Gomez asked the right questions and inquired about the right topics to come to her decision of medication and care right for me. I appreciate her soft, gentle approach during her assessment and look forward to getting in the right track mentally under her care and recommendations.
Read the other negative reviews and I will completely agree. Dr. Gomez is very rude, judgemental, and condescending. Dr. Gomez once told me "You speak intelligently for a Black person. I don't have many Black clients, but when I do I can barely understand what they are saying." So not only did she insult me, she talked negatively about other clients, showing clear bias. Instead of feeling like your getting help from a mental health care professional, you just become scared to ask for what you really need because Dr. Gomez will not listen to you.
Best psychiatrist I’ve ever worked with. Very knowledgeable, great listener and explainer, confident, makes you feel like you’re in good, expert hands. No waiting.
I thought she was pushing a certain medication as opposed to listening to me about what medications worked for me in the past. wanting my credit card information and giving me a weird email were red flags as well.
I felt she was very judgemental. She scolded me for being late a few minutes, but had the previous day she had cancelled on me with only a 20 minute notice. I was already on the CTA at that point, and had the appointment scheduled for over two weeks. I found both her and her receptionist to be quite rude. This was an intake appointment, so I was telling her about my habits/routine. I was a college athlete and continue to stay active and lift. I'm also very petite. She remarked "why do you want to get big muscles? Don't you think that would look weird on your small frame?" No. I don't want to get big muscles (nor do I have huge ones!), but I would never ever call someone weird for that! It made me feel really awkward like I had to defend myself. Horrible experience. Won't be back.
She listened to my concerns and responses, recommended holistic solutions (vitamin supplements and so on) in addition to medication, and assessed a relatively complete picture of my life in order to get a feel for my current mental state. Her manner is not particularly warm, but she is thorough and you can be sure she's trying to address whatever her perception of your problem is. I say "her perception" because I expressed concerns about a mental illness I thought I was experiencing symptoms for; I named them, and she shut me down immediately. "You don't have that." My self-diagnosis was invalid to her, which is discouraging considering I did weeks of research and journaling only to have that shrugged off. My other issue is with the missed appointment/ cancellation fee. I had the flu and couldn't attend my appointment, so I was charged that fee. Make sure to ask about that before making a first appointment. The review box does not allow me to mention the specific amount, but it was significant enough that I, a person who lives paycheck to paycheck, was unable to afford my phone bill and food for the following two weeks. It's significant. For this reason I cannot recommend that other patients utilize her services. I did not return after my first visit.
Excellent physician and staff. Highly recommend.

Dr. Gomez has very strong opinions about what you should and should not do with your life in ways that do not pertain to her medical advice (i.e. don't drink coffee, don't go out in the sun, don't drink wine). Sort of like having a judgmental aunt who you are trying to receive psychiatric help from. She also doesn't believe a lot of side effects are happening that are common and occur. There is a zero tolerance week ahead cancellation policy to add to the fun.
I don't like to be mean but she was very unprofessional and judgmental as a psychiatrist. I felt very uncomfortable and honestly almost got up and left half way through my appointment.
Excellent! I am a very complex patient and she listened carefully and explained to me changes that needed to be made to my medications. I would recommend her highly.
Professional and provided good advice.
I felt like I was being chastised during the appointment. I emailed her office to cancel the following appointment a week in advance but the email was "lost" resulting in me paying the full amount for my "missed" appointment.
