I have a single practitioner psychiatric practice in downtown Washington D.C. as well as Tysons Corner, Virginia. I received my undergraduate, masters, and medical degrees from The George Washington University, and completed my residency training in General Psychiatry at Georgetown University Hospital. Also at Georgetown University Hospital I completed a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry.
I have done, and continue to do extensive teaching of medical students as well as residents, and take great pride in educating not only students about mental health, but also my patients.
I currently hold Medical Licenses in the District of Columbia and Virginia. Additionally, I hold a Board Certification to practice General Psychiatry by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and am also Board Certified to practice Forensic Psychiatry by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

I only had one appointment with Dr. Shlakman so far, hence only 4 stars overall because I don't have a lot of experience with her yet, but she was very sympathetic, easy to talk to, and provided recommendations that made sense and made me feel like there were solutions out there.

Excellent and personable doctor. Very thorough evaluation. Took the time to see if I had questions and educated me on every aspect of her evaluation and recommendations.

She really took the time to listen and relate to me as an individual. Felt very comfortable talking to her. Even helped to get prescription needed cheaper since I don't have medical coverage.
