I became a Registered Dietitian when I was trying to manage my own battle with food and the mental aspect of it. Raised without a diet mentality, when I tried to "diet" I realized it just never worked. Instead, what I had to do was to gradually improve and work on my habits to become healthier. I live with an "add, don't subtract" mentality - let's find ways to add nutritious foods to your life instead of trying to restrict foods that you've been told your whole life to avoid. That way, we can explore a whole new world together and experience the fun of culinary nutrition together.
My approach is based on habits and beliefs about food. Nutrition starts in the mind and how we think about ourselves and about our foods. It begins with culture, upbringing with a mix of personal preferences and avoidances. Let's work together on opening your mind to a wide variety of healthy foods and the belief that you are worth caring for through good nutrition.
