Dr. Sarang Desai is a board-certified fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in the non-operative and operative treatment of all foot and ankle injuries, and disorders.
Dr. Desai graduated from the University of Texas where he was also was an All-American athlete.
Dr.Desai went to medical school at University of North Texas Health Science Center. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency in Chicago, and an AO fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Michigan International Foot and Ankle Center, only one of two in the country. He is trained in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery including sports injuries, minimally invasive techniques, fractures, arthritis and reconstructive surgery.
Given his athletic background he has a particular interest in foot and ankle sports injuries and believes in a rapid, safe return to athletic activities. He is the founder and medical director of the Baylor Plano Foot and Ankle Program. This program was created to provide excellence in foot and ankle care to the north Texas community.
Dr.Desai is the current team physician for the Dallas Sidekicks professional indoor soccer team. He is also a consultant for several other local professional sports organizations, World Olympic Gymnastic Academy and Cirque De Soleil.
Dr.Desai believes strongly in both physician and patient education. He is AO North America faculty and teaches advanced foot and ankle surgical techniques and principles to other orthopaedic surgeons on a national level. He also currently serves on the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Post-Graduate and Education Committee and has written the topic of “ankle arthroscopy” for FootCareMD. He has also provided several lectures for the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society resident lecture series.
Dr.Desai maintains an active and athletic lifestyle, and recently completed an Ironman 70.3 in Austin. He lives with his wife in Frisco.

Dr. Desai was good. A little surprised by the size of the facility as my previous foot doctor was a private practice. Hence the pace was a lot slower and each appointment was 60 min (1:1 with the doctor). Here I saw an MA, PA, and then Dr. Desai which lasted about 10 min. If you want the more intimate setting this may not be the best choice, but given the staff and access to various experts I am going to see how it goes. They have a physical therapy gym onsite which I'll probably need at some point.

The visit with Dr Desai was fairly brief. An X-ray was taken, but I was never shown the X-ray. Also, he made a prognosis with what seemed to be a relatively quick observation without really asking me when/where it hurt (i.e.: what activities and what kind of pain). He just seemed young and inexperienced. He seemed more interested in talking about his past experiences with triathlons rather than examining me.
