More about Dr. Scott Powell, MD
Dr Scott E. Powell attended Columbia College where he was one of the founding members of the rock and roll band, Sha Na Na. He performed with the group at the Woodstock Festival, Fillmore East and West, in Europe and Japan, on the syndicated television series, Sha Na Na, and in the movies Woodstock, Grease and Caddyshack. He left the band in 1980 and returned to Columbia to pursue a career in medicine.
Dr. Powell attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completed Internship at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital and Residency in Orthopedics at Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City. He completed his Fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles. Dr. Powell is Board Certified.
In 2005, Dr. Powell co-founded Stetson Powell Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Burbank with partner Bill Stetson. In addition to a busy practice in Sports Medicine, Dr. Powell is active in the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He has served on the Education Committee, the Fellowship Committee, and the Program Committee and has served on the Board of Directors from 2009-2012. He is active in the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine, having served on the Technology Committee and the Council of Delegates. He is an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and is currently a member of the Sports Medicine/Arthroscopy Program Subcommittee.
Dr Powell is Team Physician for the United States Soccer Federation Women’s National Team and has worked with the team in the last two FIFA Women’s World Cups in Shanghai and Germany. He is a Clinical Professor at the USC Keck School of Medicine and serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of United Cerebral Palsy.
