Dr. Sean Flynn is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He grew up in Brooklyn, NY and received his medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. He completed his pediatric residency at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School with training at University Hospital and the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center. After residency, he worked for several years in private practice as a general pediatrician.
Step by Step Pediatrics is the vision of Dr. Flynn. He started this private pediatric practice because of the need to increase access
and availability of pediatric services to the children and families in
the Bloomfield community and its surrounding areas. He is the sole proprietor and practitioner of Step By Step Pediatrics, PC. The goal
is to provide a higher quality of healthcare for the children in the community at every step from birth to adulthood. His vision is to create a true medical home where patients can always feel comfortable coming to see the doctor. He also strives to provide an environment where the doctor-patient/parent communication will be as effortless as possible. Dr. Flynn’s position is that each child is special and parents like his mild manner and patient friendly communication.
One thing that makes Dr. Flynn special is his commitment to help improve the human condition. Dr. Flynn served as a medical missionary in Haiti twice after the Haiti earthquake. He traveled with Arise and Walk Ministries Foundation to provide free medical care to the Haitian people and to give them the hope they need to get back on their feet. His compassion and dedication will come through in his practice of medicine!

This was my first time visiting the office! I had an appointment and was seen right away after I finished my paperwork. The doctor came in soon after she was weighed (no long wait)! I was referred to him by word of mouth and grateful for that. Also, he's open on Saturdays ??.

The purpose of my visit was for a Pediatrician Consultation, as I am in the process of selecting a Pediatrician for my son, who is due on February 28, 2017.
Dr. Flynn was very professional, accommodating, patient, and understanding. He kindly answered all of my questions and even provided supplemental information, as needed.
The office environment was clean and simple - serves its purpose - and the wait time was reasonable.
My only concern is that there is only Parking Lot - Metered Parking available at this time (until they move to another location in the future).
Other than the Parking situation, I would highly recommend Dr. Flynn and his Pediactric practice.

We've had Dr. Flynn as my child's pediatrician for almost a year. Everything seemed okay for the most part until recent few visits. He had no assistant at the office (not sure if the person quit or what) and it was only Dr. Flynn doing everything. The waiting time was long; the time he spent with each patient become shorter and shorter; the worst, he seemed pretty stressed out trying to manage everything (even picking up phone calls when seeing the patients). When he finally calls your name, don't think your waiting ends from there. He may have to see multiple patients at the same time, which means you will be waiting for some more time after he sent you back to one of those individual rooms. He really needs an assistant asap.

Dr. Flynn is great with the kids, very hands on. My son has a very hard time getting blood work done and Dr. Flynn did it with ease. My son did not even flinch. Very tentative Doc and overall nice guy!

He was very nice and caring but he was the only one at the office. There was no nurse or anyone helping him. He had a difficult time finding my child's veins which made it a difficult experience. I felt so bad for my son because he was being son brave but after a few wiggles of the needles, he could no longer contain himself and he began to cry. I've never had a doctor struggle with finding a vein, so the blood work was unsuccessful l.. very disappointed! !

My son really liked that Dr. Flynn made the exam fun. Dr. Flynn showed him how to menuver and made it a game while examining him so he didn't get scared.

He's a great pediatrician. I always feel like he takes the time to explain things to me so that I understand what's necessary or what to expect. He's also very patient and kind towards my girls. My youngest is a sensitive and shy character but she feels comfortable around Dr. Flynn. I would definitely recommend them. The only downside is I haven't found any free parking near their offices yet.
