Our optometrist Dr. Shari Strier is a cornerstone of Baltimore Washington Eye Center. She received her undergraduate degree with honors from Tulane University and earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry – where she graduated first in her class.
Dr. Strier completed her residency at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Baltimore. There, she closely studied the diagnosis and therapeutic management of ocular diseases, pre- and post-operative management of cataract, glaucoma, and retinal surgeries.
Since joining Baltimore Washington Eye Center in 1997 as its Director of Clinical Services, Dr. Strier’s clinical responsibilities have included routine eye care for patients of all ages, evaluation and management of chronic and acute eye diseases (including diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma), and fitting of routine and specialty contact lenses.
A premier optometrist in the Baltimore region, Dr. Shari Strier is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry where she serves on it's Fellowship commiitee. She has previously served as an appointee ofthe Governor of Maryland to sit on the Quality Enhancement and Insurance Committee for the Board of Examiners in Optometry.

While I had to initially wait a while for insurance approvals and a clear disconnect between the Clarksville office and their other office, it clearly was not the doctor's norm to make someone wait. In fact it seemed quite the opposite that she did not want to make patients wait and she was very hands on. Her unusual appearance sitting right next to the office assistant at the front desk was actually warming and a welcomed change. Dr. Strier's approach was thorough not checking the time or worrying how much she was making. She wanted to make sure she found answers and got things right the first time. I found her after seeing four or five other doctors at those walk in types of places. Her level of care and true commitment to the patient far separates her from the rest. Her bedside manner is unsurpassed. She's a real person and while I don't expect to need to see her for another two years she can be assured I will remember that appointment. In this day and age it is great to find someone who has a true passion for what they do while still taking the time to get to know their patients. She was able to provide the answers and the explanations that I have been looking for during the past five or six years and had not found.

The staff were very courteous and professional. There was hardly any wait time, and they were very attentive and thorough. 10/10 will visit again.

Dr. Strier and staff were very responsive to my concerns and spent extra time to address my issues. They offerred multiple solutions while being very clear about what costs I would have to pay given my insurance, which is often opaque at other doctors. Would highly recommend to anyone.

My visits with Dr. Streir and her staff are always pleasant. She's very professional and always thorough. I always feel comfortable and relaxed during my exams. She takes time to explain what she's doing when necessary and always leaves time for questions.
