Smriti Nalwa, MD, completed her residency at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in New Jersey in 2004. Since then she has been practicing in the Bay Area. Prior to her residency, she practiced Ob/Gyn in Bombay, India, for several years, after graduating from Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences. Dr. Nalwa speaks several Indian languages, including Punjabi, Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her two grown-up children, both Cal grads (Go Bears!).
She has privileges at Good Samaritan Hospital and at O'Connor Hospital, where she previously served as Vice Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She does not accept Blue Cross Medi-Cal or Blue Cross Covered California. Please note that we are currently not accepting new patients with the following insurance plans: Medi-Cal, Covered California, Physician's Medical Group, and Valley Health Plan.

doctor cancelled on me TWICE back to back. I made appointment and they called asking if i could come earlier , i heard the voicemail and it was too late for me to arrive 30 min early. so i show up and they said the doctor left 30 min ago. Super unprofessional. Why didn’t they tell me i can’t come at my appointment time on the voicemail ? Then they reschedule me for a few days later and once again they called asking if i can come in early. I said no i live far away and will be there right on time. I asked if i could still come to my appointment and they said yes. Then they call back again asking if i could come in early at all and i once again said no. they said okay well the doctor has to leave 15 min after your appointment starts and you need to fill out the new patient paperwork so…. First off i already filled out ALL the paperwork online through this app. so they should have used those forms and had them ready to go. I told them this happened last time and to just cancel. HORRIBLE !

Wrong prescription was given to my pharmacy, had to pay for it and pick it up then when the doctor called with the lab results she realized the mistake and corrected it. Staff kept blaming it on pharmacy and asked me to return the medication to their office so that they would provide me with compensation. So not only i had go go to the pharmacy twice to pick up the corrected medication but also ask me to do another visit to get compensated for their mistake. Unpleasant experience overall. Front desk never smiles, the only person with proper communication was the MA that took my history.

The office was crowded and I didn't see the doctor until over 1 hour after my scheduled appt. They brought me into the wrong examination room and had me get undressed, then made me get dressed again, wait in the waiting room again, then go to a different examination room.
The doctor was nice but everything felt rushed and a bit disingenuous. After my exam, the doctor was quickly on her way out of the room, and then I mentioned a previous health issue I had dealt with in the past, and then she mentioned she saw symptoms of it during my exam. Why would she not of mentioned that before? She saw symptoms of an infection, yet didn't say anything until I brought it up. And then she didn't even test me, but just prescribed me some medicine. And then the office didn't even contact the pharmacy. I had to call their office 5 times after the fact to get the prescription filled.
Overall it was a bad experience - which was disappointing because it was a very personal exam. Don't recommend.

I purposely go to small clinics for better one on one experience but I waited a very long time (almost an hour) before I was seen then when I was finally in the room, i waited again. There was barely any AC so I was sweating while sitting bum naked. I also saw the previous persons first name/due date on the ultrasound screen which made me very concerned for my privacy. Lastly, when I was getting my questions answered, I felt very rushed because the nurse came in and tapped her watch. The dr knows what she’s doing and she’s very kind and listens/expresses her opinions which I’m all for, but this isn’t the service I was looking for. I would have gone to a hospital if that’s what I wanted.

I had a great experience at Dr Nalwa’s office and Dr Nalwa was of great help. I felt understood and received the treatment I hoped for. My main concern was endometriosis and Dr Nalwa addressed all my questions.
