Dr. Sol Tiegerman has worked with adults and families for over thirty years. During that time, he has specialized in the treatment of anxiety, depression and stress related disorders. His background/training in the use of cognitive-behavioral therapy has informed his treatment of clients seeking assistance with various life issues.
Although a good treatment plan begins with a careful and a comprehensive review of the client’s history, the primary focus of treatment is addressing current problems occurring in the “here and now “.
As a result, Dr. Tiegerman takes an active role in the session, while at the same time encouraging the participation of the client. Homework assignments, when indicated, may also be incorporated into the treatment plan, in order to generalize strategies from the office into the “real” world.
Interpersonally, Dr. Tiegerman’s style has been described by his clients as caring, compassionate, down to earth, and displaying a good sense of humor. These qualities assist him in helping the client feel well accepted while fostering the development of an effective therapeutic relationship.
Finally, on a more personal level, Dr. Tiegerman is physically active and enjoys walking, biking and working-out on an elliptical machine. This emphasis on physical activity is one that Dr. Tiegerman incorporates into his professional work, as increasingly, research has supported exercise as a highly effective stress/anxiety management strategy.
