Dr. Baker earned his undergraduate degree from Union College in Schenectady, New York and his medical degree from the University of Vermont, College of Medicine. He performed his urology residency at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia from 1997 to 2000.
Dr. Baker is one of Central Florida's premier Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeons. He has a vast experience with Laparoscopic Nephrectomy, da Vinci Robotic Prostatectomy, and da Vinci Robotic partial Nephrectomy and Pyeloplasty. As an expert in Robotic urology, Dr. Baker has proctored many other urologists in these procedures.
Dr. Baker was the first physician to perform Laparoscopic Nephrectomy and Laparoscopic Pyeloplasty procedures in Central Florida. He has now performed over 2000 laparoscopic and robotic cases since coming to Orlando in 2000.
These new, minimally invasive approaches can be used to treat not only prostate cancer but other benign and malignant conditions of the kidney as well. The patient experiences quicker postoperative recovery while still maintaining excellent outcomes.
Dr. Baker is certified by the American Board of Urology. He is a member of the American Urologic Association, Florida Urological Society, AUA Southeastern Section and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Baker is on staff at Orlando Regional Healthcare System, including being a Urologic Oncology Consultant at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women, Sand Lake Hospital and Same Day Surgery Center in Orlando, Florida. He has given presentations at meetings of the American Urologic Association and remains active in his field.
