I’ve had orthotics for years but lost them recently. I went to Dr. Bernstein for replacements. I also have a toe that is occasionally painful. He took the impressions of my feet very conscientiously, and explained several things very clearly, about why my toes hurts, how orthotics work to support my arches, keep my feet in proper alignment, and help them stabilized.

Dr. Bernstein received his D.P.M. degree at the California College of Podiatric Medicine and subsequently trained for two years in surgery at hospitals in Monterey and Salinas California and was employed by the Monterey Podiatry Group.
After this phase of his career he relocated to N.Y.C. where he began his practice. He began his affiliation with the Beth Israel Family Practice Residency Program by teaching podiatric skills to the residents for many years. At the same time, Dr. Bernstein was very involved in community medicine by heading the podiatry division of Health Care For the Homeless, a project which has always been of concern to him on a local and national level. He was instrumental in starting the concept of "shoe drives", which collected shoes to be distributed to the needy. He was president of his local podiatry division and continues to be active in his chosen field. Over the years he has lectured extensively, given many talks to running groups and continues to stay active. He has also worked with groups of Orthopedic Surgeons and Chiropractors in order to make these professionals aware of the importance of podiatry.
Dr. Bernstein’s specialty training is not only in the traditional approaches to medicine and surgery, but he has studied extensively in holistic and complementary methods such as oriental medicine, homeopathy, herbs and nutrition.

Dr. Bernstein cancelled two Monday morning appointments on me at the last minute, once by phone call the morning of and the second time a text message at 10 pm the night before.
He was very adamant about getting me fitted for orthotics as the cure for my issue. The office assistant never confirmed with my insurance they were covered, but Dr Bernstein still managed to charge me for some support shoe that didn’t work in addition to my copay.
I bought toe spreaders on my own, and when the Dr saw them he had no idea what they were. That’s a bad sign. I don’t plan on going back.

Not only was I sold orthotics that have not helped my initial issue, but the receptionist handling all things insurance is the most incompetent person I have ever dealt with. It has been four months and they have still not submitted the claim to my insurance and continue to demand I submit payment ahead of my insurance coverage. DO NOT GO HERE! After having plenty of experience with doctors, especially podiatrists, this is the worst office I have ever been to.

The customer reviews for him are what made me choose him and he's even better than his reviews. I thought I was going to have to have a shot or surgery, what other podiatrists have said, and he offered about 12 different solutions. He answers calls immediately, and talks alot. Advice, drink some coffee before you see him because he will be giving you an outpouring of knowledge. He is amazing!

Really nice doctor with a friendly, calm demeanor and straightforward approach to explaining my fracture and the prognosis. I arrived before my scheduled appointment time and he saw me right away. Just came from my visit with Dr. Bernstein, and it could not have gone any better. I've been limping around the city with a mysterious foot infection for a week, and - within minutes of arriving - Dr. Bernstein has extracted a piece of plastic from the sole of my foot, likely something I picked up on the beach that he was able to remove. A miracle worker!
Dr. Bernstein and his staff were friendly, accommodating, and polite. Highly recommended!
