Dr. Cleland-Zamudio grew up in Oregon City, Oregon as the 3rd of 5 daughters and the 3rd generation of Clelands to go into the medical field. During her childhood, she found a passion for horseback riding and quickly noticed the healing power of horses. Eventually, her sisters joined in to share her love of riding and her family established the Sycamore Lane Welsh Pony Farm. Unfortunately, when Dr. Cleland-Zamudio decided to enter the medical field, she realized that she would need to sell her own horses to pay for tuition- she reluctantly did. She completed Medical School at Oregon Health Sciences University, finishing in the top 2% of her class. She was then accepted for surgical training at the University of Minnesota Program in Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery. During her horseless years of Residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Cleland-Zamudio and her husband had 2 sons. The youngest, Antonio, was unable to speak at the age of 2 ½ and was extremely low functioning. Upon graduation from surgical training, she and her husband moved back to Oregon City and purchased the family farm. In 1999 Dr. Cleland-Zamudio founded Portland Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialists. At this time, her son was diagnosed with Autism with severe language delay. She and her husband investigated all of the latest treatments for Autism but nothing seemed effective until she came across the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH International). This was it-the beginning of Dr. Cleland-Zamudio’s dream. Along with her husband, she turned the family farm into Sycamore Lane Therapeutic Riding Center. In 2009, Sycamore Lane opened for lessons for disabled children and adults. More than 3 years later, they are serving more than 60 riders per week.

I arrived to the office late due to relying on public transit, but Suzanne was admit about fitting me in! She understood my pain and situation as a student unable to take medical leave and was very accommodating, helping me work around my scheduled breaks to find a perfect time for my operation!

Well, everyone was nice there. I am a little concerned that I have not heard back from anyone about the hearing aide I left at the office to be repaired by the audiologist. I hope everything is okay. My hearing is greatly affected by not being able to hear as well without it, understandly. But I am thankful and relieved that Karen believes it can be fixed. Hope to hear back soon

I have not seen an ENT for OVER 25 years. I think the doctor was a little dismissive of my situation. She mentioned that she sang previous to beginning her practice and that Sting is a patient of hers. I'm a little skeptical of her empirical medication-based treatment plan and her disregard of a holistic, individual approach. She over-spoke me many times without taking what I told her seriously. I am a professional vocalist with 35 years of performance experience to call from- plus I teach vocal production. I took private lessons and developed as a vocalist and have recorded proof of my vocal clarity and range. She requested none of that information and proceeded to treat my situation very superficially.
I have another appointment scheduled with her as a follow-up; but in the meantime I will get a second opinion.

was a bit disturbed by the major focus being on what is and is not covered by the insurance I have . Left not knowing if I had received the best knowledge of medicine or was it financial assessment which would determine what if any treatment I would receive . One of the first things I was told was that my insurance would not cover surgery , which was the farthest thing from my mind surgery for what, she hadn't even looked at me yet .That said other than her telling me I most likely was allergic to my pets ,but my insurance won't cover testing (which I wouldn't want anyway) and when she chose to write a prescription she added that was the only one that was covered by my insurance leaving me feeling like what does that mean is there medicine that is better for my health but I don't qualify .Other than all the rules and regulations that she is working from she was very pleasant and if I could get the correct referral her hands could be untied so she could be more forthcoming about what might be the cause of my symptoms and what could help me to Heal !
