Patient care is my passion. Making sure my patients receive quick response to their needs is my first priority. There are no time obligations or restrictions when it comes to my patients. As a post doctoral research fellow, I published many papers in renowned journals on a common medical problem. Because of my surgical background, my patients have the advantage of getting small procedures done here at the office.
Please do not expect narcotic pain medications on your first visit. Patient's safety and well being come first in my practice.

Dr. had no recommendations to actually help me. Did not offer to refer me to a specialist to get further help. Was told to "eat more fish." I felt like I was not listened to. Would not recommend.

Unimpressed. Dr. Akhter was relatively brief and uninterested. As a first time patient I was hoping to begin to establish a relationship with a PCP, but the interaction did not leave me feeling like I want to return.

My visit was fine. Not good, not terrible, just fine. Office needs some refreshing. Looked a little outdated. Quick wait in the main lobby before being brought back to my room, only to wait another HOUR. After an hour with no update from the staff, the doctor finally came in. The visit was good, verbally took my height and weight, didn't accurately gauge my BP, but also gave me some good info for being healthy.
I will go back for a follow up, but will not return for my annual physical next year.

Scheduled the meeting the night before, was able to complete all of the paperwork beforehand (as a first time patient) and was taken care of very well. I went in for my annual physical and also had a chance to discuss some concerns I've been having that brought me in. Very professional, thorough, and helpful. Will be back next time!

Dr. Akhter was extremely helpful. He immediately provided me with an inhaler and antibiotics after I'd been denied them at a Minute Clinic.
His office staff, though...The medical assistant that checked me in reviewed my history. I had marked down that I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. The medical assistant looked at that and asked me if I'd *actually* been diagnosed or if I was just self-diagnosing. I had included a list of my medications. I had disclosed that I work in mental health care. If they're worried about the accuracy of my report, that's an issue for the doctor to address. That part of my visit made me feel uncomfortable and like I wasn't welcome.

In my appointment, Dr. Akhter seemed very focused on me and my symptoms, and took interest in the full extent of them and their potential causes, rather than just sending me off with a prescription. I felt comfortable with my experience there.

I was a new patient and Dr. Akhter and his assistant took time to get to know me and cover all the basics of my health status/history. I was interested in continuing my current prescription with him and he was very informative and helpful in that process. Dr. Akhter was laid back, but I could tell he was serious about me as a patient and understanding my health habits and history.

Dr. Akhter is the best. I started seeing him as my primary care physician over a year ago, and I'm so happy I picked him. He's friendly and really cares about his patients. He also has a wonderful staff who's willing to answer questions and help with anything you might need. If you're looking for a PCP, I'd highly suggest Dr. Akhter.

Dr. Akhter is one of the best primary care physicians in the Chicagoland area. He spends as much time as needed with his patients and explains everything in a way that non medical professionals can easily understand. He is very personable and truly wants the best for his patients. The office staff is also very kind and accommodating. The ONLY downside is the wait time, as it was just over 2 hours during my last appointment. However, for me it was well worth the wait. I would definitely recommend Dr. Akhter to family and friends.

Excellent doctor and staff. They really took the time to listen and learn about my history along with family history. I could tell the entire staff was genuinely interested in my well being. I've been searching for a primary doctor who I can trust for quite awhile and I just found my new PCP. Highly recommend.

Pending my follow-up, things were ok seeing Dr. Syed Akhter. However, his medical assistant who checked me in was pretty rude. He questioned me multiple times on the weight I gave him and told me if I didn't give him my exact weight, that he would have to take me out to the scale... and when he asked my occupation, I tried to explain the business I am in, and he got a little aggressive and mouthy about the fact that he is not from America and doesn't understand what I'm taking about. It also seemed like he wasn't really listening to what I was saying when describing what my symptoms and background information I had.

The entire staff is professional and friendly. I was pretty nervous going in at first because of the nature of my condition, and the PA in particular was very reassuring. The doctor was able to perform minor surgery in the office successfully.

I was supposed to receive a follow-up call within 2 weeks of my visitm and it's already been over a month and I'm still waiting. I also thought his clerkship students weren't overly knowledgeable nor trained. While the experience itself was fine, I will likely be looking for another doctor where I feel valued in the personal experience.
