Pros: Dr. Mays is very kind and sweet and a great listener. She's patient and understanding. Her front desk staff is a bit brusque but effective.
Cons: She has large bible posters and quotes throughout her office, which if you're non-Christian may feel very uncomfortable to see at the OBGYN office. There was also a long wait (1hr plus), which she attributed to being sought-after, but as a health administrator, I know that the popularity of a doctor should not impact wait times -- a good triage and scheduling system is what would improve this.

I was not satisfied with the care of Dr. Mays. She was very unsure about even the most basic questions about contraceptive pills and the ACA. The majority of the appointment was spent having Dr. Mays detail her dissatisfaction with patients calling her, how she hadn't had enough sleep the night before and how she got career burnout when she used to work in a hospital. I felt I was being spoken down to when I asked questions about contraceptives and it made me feel discouraged from seeking proper medical advice. Additionally, after the examination there was no way for me to clean myself up as the office did not have any tissues or paper towels. Every GYN exam I've had I've been offered something to clean away the speculum lubricant. Finally, the most egregious part of my visit was the religious pamphlets and signage in the waiting room. I find it HIGHLY inappropriate to offer religious material in a doctors office especially at a GYN. It made me extremely uncomfortable to know my doctor thought it was in any way appropriate to post clearly religious messages in her office.

Dr. Tanya Mays was very friendly and interested in me, in the past my interactions with most Drs has always felt rushed and like I was just another person on their list, Dr. Mays really showed that she cares about each of her patients. The office doesn't feel like a traditional medical office, since its a small private office. At first I wasn't sure if this was something I liked, but as soon as I talked with the Dr. I felt totally confident that she was the right Dr. for me.

i find dr mays exceptional. dr mays attends to you, as the patient, with such care and genuine concern.
i interviewed dr mays before making the decision to have her as my obgyn. ive had the same obgyn for over 15 years. i was attached to my obgyn and felt i would not find someone as wonderful as the obgyn i had. after sitting with dr mays i made the decision to make her my obgyn. im so delighted to have found her.

I would highly recommend Dr. Mays to anyone searching for an OB/GYN. I felt at ease with her, and she answered all of my questions in depth. During our office visit, I did not feel rushed at any point. I am more than pleased with the quality of care that I received from Dr. Mays. In addition, her assistant Marina was very professional and kind. Dr. Mays is a wonderful physician as well as person, and you will feel the same way once you have a consultation with her :)
