What makes you passionate about being a healthcare provider?
I am board certified in family medicine in addition to being a fellowship-trained sports medicine physician.
I completed my medical training at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington DC where the medical philosophy was “cura personalis”—to care for the psychological, spiritual, social as well as the physical wellbeing of the person. My continued post-graduate training has centered around this mantra, with additional training and certifications in medical acupuncture (Helms Medical Institute), ontological life coaching (Accomplishment Coaching), manual manipulation (Graston Technique), strength/endurance coaching (Starting Strength, Crossfit, and Crossfit Endurance), and functional/lifestyle medicine (Wild Health).
In your opinion, what should be the role of a primary care provider for a patient, taking into account both physical health and behavioral health needs?
A main focus with my patients and clients has always been to build a solid “personalis” foundation and to focus on the individual’s core self and being through an integrative approach with my varied experiences to guide and empower patients to their intended health results. I enjoy working closely with patients and clients toward developing their own “cura personalis,” and focus on non-pharmacological remedies when possible, and utilize modern medicines and surgical interventions when needed.
Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I live in Colorado where my wife and three young children spend a lot of time doing all things outdoors!
