I've been to Dr. Tam in the past and always had a pleasant experience. Sadly this time, the wait was excessive and was not addressed until I asked when I would be seen after waiting for 50 minutes. I was moved to a room where I waited for another 20 minutes. No mentioned that there was a delay or apologized for the wait. My appointment was for a short procedure that only took 5 minutes. I'm not sure if I will come back.

Dr. Teresa Tam is Board certified by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She attended the Rosalind Franklin Chicago Medical School, receiving the Dean's Award at graduation in 1994. She took residency St. Joseph hospital, from 1994 to 1998. In 2012, she took a sabbatical from her practice to undertake a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in PA, She returned in 2013 to open a new solo practice in Chicago. Dr. Tam is an accomplished researcher, having been published in numerous of professional medical journals, and a noted presenter at national and international medical conferences, having presented over two dozen oral presentations, abstracts, video, and poster presentations. To date, she has written over 13 published research papers and produced a series of medical education videos. She was awarded “Attending of the Year” and received the “National Faculty Award“, an unprecedented FIVE times during her 12 years as Associate Director of the OB/Gyne residency program at St. Joseph Hospital. In all, Dr. Tam is a truly dedicated and accomplished physician who shows genuine concern and care for all her patients. She takes the time to listen to their needs, as well as advise and educate. As an accomplished clinician and surgeon with over 15 years experience, Dr. Tam brings an exceptionally high level of skill and knowledge along with her warm and caring bedside manner to all her patients.

Seriously, the most comfortable pap smear ever. If that's even a thing. She also switched out my Mirena and it was done in a few minutes. Almost painless! She put up with my anxious crying too.

The office was apologetic about the long wait, but it wasn't a big deal (a good reason to make weekend appointments). Dr. Tam is so nice and I'll be going back again!

Dr. Tam made some sarcastic remarks to me that were unprofessional and did not make me feel empowered around my female health questions. For example, I told her I was nervous about getting an IUD because I had been reading feedback online from other women who described the pain, and some had emotional irregularity. Dr. Tam remarked that I shouldn't look for information from "Doctor Google." The questions I had were answered by her shoving three brochures in my hand. Her office also messed up my pre-IUD prescription documents, which resulted in me having to go to the pharmacy twice. When I emailed them about the mess up, Dr. Tam herself wrote a mean email response about how "my" chosen pharmacy was the one with a problem. Overall, not a good experience and I wouldn't go back.
