I was new patient and minor wait time was based on filling out paperwork.
Came to him as referral from primary care doctor. Did good job of explaining results of EKG that was basis of referral. Obtaining records from last cardiologist I saw 5 years ago for review before determining next steps.

I made the appointment with the physician, but was mainly seen by his midlevel (PA or NP not sure which one). He did stop by in the end for couple minutes. They are both polite people, however they both provided somewhat contradictory information and I did not get enough time with the doctor to clarify.
I dont mind seeing a mid level, but if thats the case then the booking should be more transparent.

First off, let me say that the staff here are Amazing. Friendly, efficient, thorough, and extremely competent. I wish all doctors could have a staff so exceptional.
The doctor is a very nice guy, and would be a great fit for someone needing to find out what is going on with their heart.
Unfortunately he was not the right doctor for me. I have had my diagnosis for 30+ years. I know the method and course of treatment like I know my own name. It was very frustrating that he alternated between brushing my statements off and simply not listening to me at all.
As I stated, I've known my diagnosis for 30yrs, and my medication manages it perfectly. He still wanted to go through the full rotation of diagnostic tests again "to be thorough."
Sorry, but I have no reason to needlessly throw money away for tests that are mentally, physically, and financially exhausting when all I needed was a refill of the prescription I have always been given.

I was actually scared and nervous about the actual exam. But it was very pleasant. I hope I wasn't annoying to the nurses because of my hearing I kept asking for repeat of questions asked.

I was looking for a new cardiologist and was referred to Dr. Backer. I was impressed with him and his staff. He's very attentive and takes the time to explain his analysis and suggested procedures. He's patient answering questions and seems genuinely interested in making sure patients are fully informed. His staff was welcoming and friendly.

My first visit to Dr Backer was very productive. Was I'm the process of changing Cardio Doctors, and Doc Backer to be simcere caring professional that wanted to assist me with my cardio condition and concerns. I've subsequently have had a second visit to him, he added an additional medication to my treatment. He took the time to explain what it was for, why he thought I needed it and most importantly the side effects that I may experience. Most doctors don't tell there patients about side effects, probably due to a lack of knowledge.

I was able to get a last minute appointment as a new patient. Dr. Backer spent a great deal of time with me and answered all of my questions. The staff was very friendly and professional.

Doc was great, he wanted to rule out issues and had the staff run a PA for the procedure to be completed in the office that same day. He worked me in the following day for the results. Very informative and took the time to get a complete assessment.
His office staff did miss file the insurance claim, they sent out back to back collections letters while I was fighting with Aetna to get the claim re-adjudicated due to the errors with Aetna. His staff was not skilled at catching the errors or in correctly pushing back on the insurance to know the insurance allowed different amounts on the same codes when the claim was reporocessed. That is a red flag that something is not correct. I had to do the appeal myself after I received a second bill with different amounts and interest due. His staff needs more training on insurance claims filing, posting, and most definately APPEALS.
