Dr. Rechtschaffen was an excellent physician to me. I was visiting my daughter and had a UTI from last August. Prior to seeing him, I had gone to an urgent care facility and been given medication. Dr. R confirmed by a culture of my urine sample that it was free of microorganisms. The physician at the urgent care advised me to be seen by a urologist ASAP, which was why I went to Dr. R.Throughout, I was impressed by his sincerity and total focus on my welfare. Since I was scheduled to return to my home in San Antonio in a few days, we decided not to start any intensive diagnostic work. He assured me there were competent urologists in San Antonio. My one regret was that, due to my leaving town, I could not continue having him as my physician. He is a great asset to your team.

Dr. Rechtschaffen graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in Biochemistry in 1991. He earned his medical degree at the New York University School of Medicine in 1995. He chose to enter the field of Urology primarily because of the flexibility it offers to treat both life threatening diseases such as cancer as well as quality of life diseases such as voiding dysfunction, sexual health and infertility.
He trained under Dr. Arnold Melman during his residency in Urology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. After graduating the program in 2001, he returned to southern Westchester County, where he grew up, to practice Urology.
Dr. Rechtschaffen strives to be an excellent doctor to his patients and a resource to other physicians. He lectures local physicians and community groups about better ways to recognize and treat Urological issues.
He treats all aspects of urology, but focuses on prostate-related disease, kidney stones, infertility and is proud to have a large portion of his clinical time devoted to women’s urology problems.
Dr. Rechtschaffen is an active member of the American Urological Association and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
This year he was selected to the AUA Leadership Program: one of only twenty Urologists nationwide.
Dr. Rechtschaffen is on staff at Montefiore Medical Center, St. John’s Riverside Hospital, Lawrence Hospital Center, and White Plains Hospital Center.
He lives in Westchester County with his wife and three children.
