He's very personable and experienced and knows how to examine children without freaking them out. My daughter is very anxious, and she didn't get teary even once. And that's saying something. She will cry at the sight of a blood pressure cuff. But, when she started saying momma, momma! And looking at the blood pressure machine they just said you don't have to do it this time. She was coming in for sure illness not a check up, so that was very appreciated.

Quality, empathetic pediatric care is still available at Wilson and Damen. Dr. Ochs has been seeing children at 1945 W. Wilson for over 17 years. He simply moved from the fourth to the sixth floor, and created a child-friendly office, with free wi-fi for patients and parents. There are computers in the waiting room, and exam rooms with animal themes (panda, fish, dog, and cat).
Ravenswood Pediatrics has been recognized as a center of excellence by DCFS, and Dr. Ochs sees foster children entering the system. He also sees a large number of international and domestic adoptees, and works with Trinity Services, evaluating children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. For the last four years, he has been the treasurer of the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He speaks locally, regionally and nationally on Adoption and Foster Care, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and other health issues affecting children.
Primarily, he is a community pediatrician, who walks to work, and has strong ties to the neighborhood. He considers it a privilege to care for children, and seeks to make their lives better, through carefully listening, working with parents, coordinating care for medically complex children, and advocacy with agencies and schools.
He is a member of the Children’s Community Practice Association (most PPO’s), Advocate Physician Partners (most HMO’s), and Illinois Health Connect (IDPA).

The doctor is fine but the office is a mess. Went there twice and both times they had issues with the appointment time. Waited three hours the first time and the second time they had booked someone in my slot and were running behind again so I just left.

Dr. Ochs is an excellent pediatrician. We never feel rushed during appointments with him, as he takes plenty of time to address any concerns we have about our one-year-old. He offers practical advice (and comforting reassurance for nervous parents). You can tell Dr. Ochs loves what he does, and his experience and knowledge shine through in his bedside manner. My husband and I started out at a different practice when our son was born, and we were really dissatisfied with our visits. We felt talked down to, and we didn't feel the doctor was as well versed on current pediatric research as he should have been. Since switching to Dr. Ochs's practice (we've been for multiple well and sick visits at this point) we've been extremely happy. Dr. Ochs is everything you could hope to find in a pediatrician - attentive, patient, knowledgeable, and kind.

We've been with Dr Ochs for about 10 yrs now. The wait time dilemma is a catch 22. He's awesome because he spends time with his patients. He's always running behind because he spends time with his patients. I'll take waiting to see a doctor that actually listens and cares to one that runs out of the room after 15 mins.

Dr. Ochs is the best! My son has been his patient since birth, he is now eleven. Though we are no longer in the city we make the trek in to see Dr. Ochs and will continue to do so. My son nearly died from a sepsis infection when he was two weeks old and I credit Dr. Ochs with saving his life.

I've been bringing my children to see Dr. Ochs since my 26 year old was 6 months old; My baby is now 17 & its sad to think that our visits with Dr. Ochs are numbered. He is more than a doctor to the kids. I know if something is on their mind, Dr Ochs is someone they would feel comfortable talking with. Over these 26 years Dr. Ochs has always been there for our family, and we will definitely miss him. I recommend Dr. Ochs to new parents everywhere as well as any family with children who may not be satisfied with their child's pediatrician We love you Dr. Ochs!

From the very time I took my newborn son to see Dr. Ochs, I knew that I had found the right doctor. Fast forward 2 1/2 years and I still cant say enough. Dr. Ochs has always been attentive and caring with my son. Samuel loves going to see him. Im sure that Dr, Ochs will remain Samuel's pediatrician for as long as I can take him there.

I love Dr. Ochs. I'll never forget the moment he walked into my hospital room shortly after giving birth, took one look at my nervous husband, and immediately put him at ease. He joked around and made him cofortable holding and caring for our new baby, so now he feels like Super Dad. He takes great care of our daughter medically, is thorough but also laid back, and really makes us feel comfortable and reassured.

Every time we visit the Dr.'s office all questions are answered, along with any concerns. I was recommended to Dr. Ochs and have been with the Dr. for 8 years with both of my children. I love the passion he has and build a great relationship with him.

On a scale of 1-10, Dr. Ochs is 1,000. There is no better doctor than he is. He has been a wonderful doctor for all 5 of my children and now my grand daughter. I wish he had a family practice because he would be my doctor as well. You will never find a doctor as wonder as Doctor Ochs, he's the best!
