He received his Doctor of Medicine from Northeast Ohio Medical University in 2019. Prior to this, he completed his undergraduate studies at Youngstown State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
Before joining Talkiatry, Dr. O'Brien completed his Residency in Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, West Virginia, in 2023. There, he treated a wide variety of patients, including young adults, geriatrics, and patients with co-occurring substance use disorders and eating disorders. His practice focuses on medication management, usually in conjunction with supportive, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioral therapy approaches.

I did the online assessment that their office sent me but they never booked the appointment. I called this morning to verify the appointment because I hadn’t heard from them and was told I never did the assessment and my appointment time had been given to someone else. But I did do the assessment and all their required paperwork at least a week ago.
