My visit with her was fine and informative. She listened and explained. I felt comfortable with her.
The waiting room was a bit cold. Also, I am 5'1" tall, and the big black chairs were built for someone much taller. If I sat all the way back, my feet were about 6" off the floor, and sitting forward was hard on my back. I did find one that was a little better, but some chairs that aren't so deep would be nice for short people like me.

Dr. Callender is the founder of Callender Dermatology & Cosmetic Center, which is located in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Region. Dr. Callender received her medical degree from Howard University, where she also did her residency and currently serves as an Associate Professor of Dermatology.
Dr. Valerie Callender is an internationally recognized Board Certified Dermatologist, who is known for her expertise in Pigmentation Disorders and the medical and surgical treatment of Hair Loss in Women. Dr. Callender has written twelve (12) textbook chapters and many articles for academic journals. She has recently co-edited a textbook on the Treatment for Skin of Color. Dr. Callender is a frequently invited speaker at national and international meetings. She is a frequent speaker at the American Academy of Dermatology Summer and Winter sessions. She has made presentations to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons in New York City, Vancouver, Canada and Sydney, Australia; The World Congress of Hair Research in Berlin, Germany; the European Society of Dermatology and Venerealogy in London, England; the Mexican Society of Cosmetic Surgeons in Mexico City; the Puerto Rican Dermatological Society in San Juan, Puerto Rico; the Caribbean Dermatological Society in Port of Spain, Trinidad; the Brazilian Conference of Dermatological Surgery in Uberlandia, Brazil and many state and national societies.

I loved my visit with Dr. Callender. She was very nice and really seemed to understand the problems I was having. The only reason why I had to wait was because it didn't show I had an appointment (somehow when I made the appointment through ZocDoc it didn't show up on their system), but they apologized and squeezed me in (I only waited maybe seven minutes).
I was extremely impressed with the facility. It seemed welcoming and very clean. The staff were also very nice. I would highly recommend seeing this doctor.

I was very glad to see her success with the new office. This was my first visit at the new ofice. The wait time was over an hour due to the office transistioning to a new file system within their computer. But, this was explained by one of the office staff.

Everyone was very helpful and nice at Dr. Callender's office. Once I was taken back to the exam room I had a bit of a wait, but she answered all of my questions and was very helpful and knowledgeable.

I came in 30 minutes early and still had to wait an hour to been seen. Once I was seen, the doctor did nothing but gave me advise to straighten my hair. I wish that I had called in a recommendation than to have any appointment and pay a co-pay.

The visit was great! I saw Dr. Young and she was super nice and informed me of what I need to do to get my skin in great condition. I also met w/ Dr. Callender and she was amazing as well.
You can really tell this is a serious derm practice. Everyone was super beautiful, fabulous skin, and the office was just as nice.
Definitely recommending a couple of people to this office.
