Dr. Thomas received his medical degree in 1999 from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit and completed his residency in ophthalmology in 2003 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Eye and Ear Institute. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and currently serves as a member of both the Florida Society of Ophthalmology and American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and also serves as vice chair of ophthalmology at Orlando Health. In addition, he is a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Southwest Orlando.

I don't ever give a bad review because I feel like everyone has a bad day once in a while, but this has got to be the worst doctor I have ever been to. After waiting almost an hour and a half to see him, he came in and rushed through my exam in less than five minutes. In fact, five minutes is probably overstating it. Because my eyes were dilated by that point, naturally it was difficult to look into the light during my exam. Mind you, I'm not a fussy patient. I recognize he is running a business and so I generally cooperate anyway I can with my doctors. But when my eyes are tearing and in pain there isn't much I can do. It was clear that even though my exam was in total less than FIVE minutes, Dr. Thomas had no patience for this. I asked him TWO questions which he did not even have the decency to turn around from his computer screen to look at me to answer, and to both questions I got a snarky reply that I'm not old enough to have that issue and if I did I would have to learn to deal with it. I was shocked by his behavior during the exam and I was at a loss for words. I just left. It's a real shame too because the office is otherwise clean and all of the staff I interacted with were very friendly. I would have come back despite the two hour wait if Dr. Thomas hadn't been the rudest doctor I have ever seen. In fact, I was so taken aback I struggled to write this review in the office parking lot while my eyes are still dilated! Never ever again.

The visit with the doctor was good. The receptionist and cashier were very unpleasant. I advised the cashier that I had satisfied my deductible and she would not check. She charged me a a deductible even though i did not have to pay one. I called my insurance only to find out that they never contacted the insurance regarding my deductible. I am still waiting for a refund from the doctor's office for the deductible that I paid them. Not happy about this at all.

I don't normally leave negative reviews anywhere, but I feel inclined to after my very dissatisfying experience with Dr. Thomas's office. After reading mostly positive reviews of the office I had good expectations when I went in for a regular eye exam.
Only two other patients were waiting to be seen when I arrived. Unfortunately, this did not lead to a short wait time for me as I still waited an hour and a half to be called back. Once I was finally called, a very nice and polite eye technician began to perform a variety of normal tests on my eyes.
All was going well until she informed me that she was going to dilate my eyes. I objected to this because I had driven myself to the appointment and did not feel comfortable having my eyes dilated. I expressly stated these things and asked if it was absolutely necessary to dilate today. She stated that the dilation would not affect my ability to drive myself home and insisted multiple times that I would be fine. It was clear to me that she was not going to take no for an answer and I had no choice but to do the dilation.
After dilating my eyes against my wishes she ushered me back out to the waiting room to wait to be called again. I waited another 30-40 minutes before being called back to see Dr. Thomas. During this second waiting period I actually started to get anxiety about driving myself home to the point where I was genuinely scared to do so.
Dr. Thomas himself was very polite but I didn't feel that I had a complete experience with him, as my time spent in the examination room with him totaled less than five minutes. I felt very rushed through everything, and before I knew it I was being sent back out into the waiting room to leave. As I was leaving I realized they had not given me any kind of eye protection for my dilated eyes. There was absolutely no way I could drive myself home without some kind of protection as it was a very sunny day and I was practically blinded just by walking outside. I had to actually go back into the clinic and request some kind of sunglasses or protection for my eyes.
I could not believe that they had sent me away without even considering my discomfort and inability to safely drive home on my own. Despite the fact that I spent more than two hours total waiting to be seen, my actual time being examined felt very rushed and I did not feel like I was given the best possible experience by any means. I had high hopes for this experience but left extremely disappointed, and I will definitely not be returning for future appointments.
