As someone who suffers with hypertension it was refreshing to have someone in primary care do two things: 1. take time to listen/understand how my mental health challenges have contributed to my hypertension. 2. Not recommend/prescribe drugs. I.E. she was genuinely interested in teaching me about supplements and other lifestyle changes I can make to influence blood pressure.

At Neighborhood Family Health, our goal is to provide quality care with a personal connection and the time necessary to do so, something that has been progessively weened out of the healthcare setting. Each of us are unique and vary greatly in our needs, priorities and concerns; therefore, healthcare must conform to each person individually to be effective. Our focus is on the whole person ~ mind, body & spirit ~ as this is what makes us who we are. You are special and should be treated as such.
Viki Swynenberg is the owner and sole health practitioner at Neighborhood Family Health (NFH). Her mission ~ to provide care and compassion to friends & neighbors, while developing a trusting one-to-one relationship, close to home, by a health care provider who truly cares about your personal health & well being. Viki will devote the time and energy necessary to assist you in achieving your health goals.
We are pleased to be nestled conveniently in the heart of central Austin, just off 38th Street, easily accessable from most anywhere. Come see if Viki is the right provider for you and your family. If not, she will do her best to find a health care provider who is!
Viki is a board certified Family Nurse Pracitioner, educated here in the fine state of Texas. She has spent many years caring for our countries veterans and in more recent years, the general public.

Didn’t stay. I don’t have an hour to wait around for a checkup. The bedside manner if the nurse/tech who took my blood pressure was terrible. I don’t need her commentary on my blood pressure, especially once I tell her I’m under a lot of stress and I expected it to be high.

Viki is amazing! She takes her time to TRULY understand your concerns and symptoms to make sure they are addressed holistically. I didn’t feel like “just a number” like I have in many past experiences. Her staff is also wonderful and friendly. I’m so relieved I have found a high-quality healthcare provider here in Austin after recently moving from out of state.

Viki Swynenberg was amazing! I was super nervous about getting an annual checkup and she made the whole thing very comfortable for me. Not only does her office have a lot positive vibes in the atmosphere, but they even have great music playing while you wait. I didn't have a PCP before, but now I definitely do. I'm keeping her! You can tell she is passionate about her job and takes her patient's health seriously. I was nervous before heading to the appointment, but now I'm so glad I did. She's a fantastic practitioner.

it was a very comfortable environment
Doesn't feel overly clinical like a traditional doctors office .. but very professional all the way
Also, unlike other places like ARC, I was seen as an actual person and not a number. It's just bigger places really herd you through like cattle and you're nothing but a date of birth!

Dr. Viki was amazing! I went to my appointment 30 minuets early and was seen right away. She was very down to earth and answered all of my questions thoroughly. Plus it didn’t hurt that she had a really good playlist. Definitely recommend.

Charming office/patient rooms (not overly clinical), was helped immediately. Mrs. Swynenberg and staff are attentive, creative, genuine and thorough. All my questions were answered and Viki approached my healthcare with a new strategy and I'm very excited about that. Radio playlist was great too! You won't be disappointed.

I absolutely love this provider. Viki has amazing bedside manners and she makes you feel comfortable when you first meet her. You can tell she cares about her patients.
Cons: Long waits. On average I will sit at least 30 minutes before I am helped. The first visit it was 20 minutes before I got to check in and another 30 minutes before I was seen. The second visit, I sat for 25 minutes before anyone said anything to me. Still waiting to check in for my appointment, and I came 10 minutes early. Parking is limited and tight.
Pros: Very friendly staff. Very clean and nicely decorated establishment. Great music played in the lobby. So good, that you don't realize how long you've been sitting there...until you see staff walking back and forth and you realize you're still waiting for assistance.
I would recommend to others, but the wait times need a great deal of improvement. You can't come here if you are on a tight schedule, because you'll miss your other engagements.
*I do want to note that the ratings stars all had the same statement, so I'm not certain which ones were which, but I give 5 stars to this provider, 3 stars for the wait time, and 5 stars to the staff for their friendliness.
