Dr. Iannace graduated the Stony Brook School of Medicine in 1996. From there, he completed his General Surgery Residency at Brown University, where he was first introduced to the field of Bariatric Surgery.
After dedicating three years to General Surgery post residency, he then went on to advance his study of the dynamic field of bariatric surgery and completed an advanced Fellowship in Bariatric Surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center in 2005. Since then, Dr. Iannace has dedicated 100% of his practice to the treatment and management of obesity and the Metabolic Syndrome, and has also co-authored many medical papers relating to the advancement of the science.
"I love the performing bariatric surgery because it works. We can finally help change the lives of people who have been struggling with their excessive body weight and add many good, quality years to their lives. Being part of the 'Halo Effect' -- which surrounds my patients -- lets me feel like a member of their family. I find the job very fulfilling."
Among Dr. Iannace's current interests is investigating the effect of weight loss surgery on the metabolic syndrome. The effect is so strong that he believes the surgery is like "taking medicine on steroids" - without the pills. He has presented the topic at Grand Rounds and continues to assist in the training of future surgeons.
