Prior to specializing in Rheumatology, Richard worked for over nine years in emergency medicine with the Indian Health Service in Tucson and the University of Arizona Medical Center Emergency Department. In 2004 Richard retired from the US Air Force Medical Reserves ending a military career that began as a member of the US 3rd Marine Division.
Richard holds the following academic degrees: Masters in the Science of Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner, Certificate of completion from the Advanced Rheumatology post-graduate course of The American College of Rheumatology, National Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the ANCC. Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Masters of Library and Information Science and Bachelor of Arts in Economics. The Universities where he studied include: The University of Maryland, University of Missouri at Kansas City, The Internal Christian University in Japan, University of Missouri at Columbia, Missouri, Regents College of the State of New York and the University of Phoenix.
