Dr. Refai received his medical degree from the University of Aleppo with honors. His training in Internal Medicine was completed at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, as well as Gastroenterology in addition to Transplant Hepatology. While being an exceptional Internist and Gastroenterologist, Dr. Refai focuses on caring for those with liver disease. His interests include and are not limited to Liver disease, Hepatitis C, Colorectal cancer screening, GERD , overweight and fatty liver management. His directorship assisted in establishing two Liver Transplant Programs, one of which is the local William Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak. He is fluent in both English and Arabic. Dr. Refai has contributed to research in nutrition by writing in medical reference books.
