Dr. Phillips is a graduate of the University of Southern California where he received his Bachelor Science degree in the honors program. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. where he distinguished himself by graduating as the class valedictorian. His post-doctoral training began with an internship in transitional surgery at Howard University Hospital, a residency in ophthalmology at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, and a fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases, also at the Wills Eye Hospital.
Dr. Phillips is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is licensed in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. He has hospital affiliations at Washington Hospital Center, Silver Spring Ophthalmology, and Friendship Surgery Center. Dr. Phillips currently serves as the Director of the Retinal Group of Washington’s Vitreoretinal Fellowship. Additionally, he is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Georgetown University Center for Sight, Georgetown University School of Medicine. He has been involved as a member in eight professional organizations.
In addition to numerous awards during his academic training, Dr. Phillips has contributed to over thirty published articles, abstracts and presentations.
