More about Dr. William Norris, MD
Dr. Norris is a native of Delray Beach, FL. He received his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College and his medical degree from Meharry Medical College. His internal medicine residency was completed at the University of Tennessee- Memphis.
He spent nine years in the United States Army. He served three years at Fort Campbell, where he was the Chief of Medicine. He subsequently completed his gastroenterology fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He completed an Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Training Program at the University of Maryland. He spent the majority of his remaining time on active duty in an academic setting conducting research and teaching gastroenterology fellows. He is published in peer-reviewed medical journals including Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and has authored a review on drug induced liver injury. He was appointed Director of Endoscopy at Walter Reed, and had the unique experience to serve as the personal gastroenterologist for military flag officers and members of the U.S Senate and Congress. Dr. Norris is an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran, serving a combat tour with 1st Cavalry Division in 2009. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal for his performance during this tour.
In recognition of his professional achievement and competency in the field of gastroenterology he was selected to be a Fellow in the American College of Gastroenterology.
In his spare time, Dr. Norris enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He is an avid runner and fitness enthusiast.
